The results

60% lower cost per lead — and almost twice as many organic visitors in four months.

OLCEA is a private eye clinic. acend manages Google Ads and SEO.

Growth comes primarily from non-branded searches — people who had not heard of OLCEA before but were looking for a solution.

The problem

No control over the ad account.

OLCEA did not have control over its Google Ads account. It was running, spending money and generating enquiries — but there was no clear understanding of how to manage it or what was actually driving results.

That is an uncomfortable position to be in, because you cannot confidently scale up or down. Without knowing what works, every change becomes a guess — so you end up leaving the account running as it is and hoping for the best.

The solution

Control first, then growth.

Get tracking to measure the right things, consolidate the account — and keep the wrong searches out.

01

Not all enquiries are worth the same

The account bid equally aggressively regardless of whether a search led to a phone call or a completed contact form. But the two are not equally valuable to the clinic — form enquiries delivered more.

When the system is told that two things are equally good, it optimises accordingly. So we started by getting tracking in order and giving each type of enquiry its true weighting. Only then does bidding work towards what actually benefits the business, rather than an average.

02

Consolidation and broader keywords

From there, we consolidated the account and opened it up to broader keywords. That sounds counterintuitive — but the point is that low-cost conversions often lie beyond the obvious searches everyone is bidding on.

Consolidation is what makes this possible. Bringing conversion data together in one place gives bidding enough information to navigate the broader landscape rather than guess.

03

Tight control of negative keywords

OLCEA was getting a large number of searches from people looking for a public-sector eye specialist. They click, they cost money, and they never turn into an enquiry — they are looking for something entirely different from what the clinic offers. By consistently building and maintaining negative keyword lists, we removed that spending from the account.

It is unglamorous work, which is exactly why it is often neglected. But when three out of every four kroner go towards clicks that cannot convert, this is where halving the cost per lead comes from.

04

SEO: new demand rather than more of the familiar

On the organic side, traffic almost doubled in four months. What matters, though, is not the number but where it comes from: most of the growth is in non-branded searches.

Branded traffic comes from people who already knew OLCEA and simply needed to find the website — that traffic would have arrived anyway. Non-branded traffic comes from people who were looking for a solution to their problem and discovered the clinic along the way. That is new demand, not a redirection of demand that was already there.

Why the cost per lead dropped by 60%

No single change delivered the result. Bidding first needed the right thing to optimise for, then enough data to navigate by — and finally, spending that could never convert had to be removed from the account entirely. Only when those three things work together can the cost per lead be more than halved.

The partnership

Google Ads and SEO — together in one place.

Regular reporting and ongoing strategic input

A regular follow-up schedule, combined with room for whatever comes up along the way.

acend handles the day-to-day work

Google Ads and SEO are managed and optimised together in one place, so the two channels each cover their own share of demand rather than competing for the same searches.

No long-term commitments

The partnership needs to make sense month after month — and it does.
